Malinowski gains some ground in NJ-7

Democratic congressman now leads Tom Kean, Jr. by 5,847 votes

Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) has added 351 more votes to his lead over Republican Thomas Kean, Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th district congressional race and now leads Kean by 5,847 after more votes were tallied in Somerset County.

Malinowski now leads Kean, 205,195 to 199,348, 50.7% to 49.3%.

The freshman Democratic congressman won 54% of the Somerset votes counted on Friday.

Provisional ballots have still not been counted in Somerset.
