Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton) has won his first endorsement for re-election to a second term in 2020: End Citizens United, a grassroots group that opposes the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision that relaxed limitations on dark money spending on political campaigns.
“It’s no secret that corporate interests have rigged the system and corrupted our democracy, said Kim. “That’s why, from the time we launched our first campaign in 2017 to today, I’ve refused to take corporate PAC money.”
Kim said that dark money groups spent millions – almost $6.3 million, according to Open Secrets — attacking him during his 2018 campaign to unseat Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River).
“We’ll never know who funded these attacks, or why,” Kim said.
Outside groups also spent nearly $6.6 million attacking MacArthur, Open Secrets reported.
