Flanagan teams up with Ghassali in NJ-5

Republican U.S. Senate candidate will bracket with Montvale mayor in portions of Bergen, Passaic, Sussex and Warren

U.S. Senate candidate Tricia Flanagan and congressional candidate Michael Ghassali will bracket together in the 5th district portions of Bergen, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties.

Ghassali, the mayor of Montvale, is seeking the GOP nod to challenge Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).

Flanagan told the New Jersey Globe on Monday that she will bracket with former Trump administration official Robert Patterson in the 1st district and Barnegat mayor John Novak in the 3rd as she pursues the Republican nomination to take on incumbent Cory Booker.

Patterson faces Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis), who has secured all eight Republican organization lines in after bolting the Democratic Party last December.

Novak is looking for the chance to run against freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton).
