U.S. Senator Cory Booker has called for the resignation of embattled Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax after a second woman came forward with allegations of sexual assault.
“The multiple detailed allegations against the Lt. Gov. of Virginia are deeply troubling. They are serious, credible, and corroborated by others. It is no longer appropriate for him to serve. He should resign,” Booker said.
Booker called on Gov. Ralph Northam to resign last week after photos from his medical school yearbook displayed a man in blackface standing next to someone wearing a Ku Klux Klan robe. Northam initially apologized for being in the photo before later denying he was in it.
So far, Northam and Fairfax, both Democrats, are refusing to resigm.
