President likely to make two stops to boost Murphy eight days before election

President Joe Biden’s visit to New Jersey next Monday will likely include two stops during an official business trip that will feature Gov. Phil Murphy.

Biden’s appearance with Murphy – his second in 48 days – comes eight days before the Democratic governor faces voters in his bid for a second term.    An Emerson College/WPIX News poll puts Republican Jack Ciattarelli within six points of Murphy – the closest poll yet in a race the Democratic governor led by 13 points in September.

The White House has not announced the president’s itinerary, but Westfield has hit the short list of potential locations, the New Jersey Globe has learned.

Biden advance team staffers were in the Union County town today scouting a possible location.

Air Force One is scheduled to arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport at 10:30 AM and will depart about four hours later.

An official visit may be preferable to Murphy, who won’t have to use campaign funds to reimburse the government for the trip.

The New Jersey Globe first reported Biden’s trip to New Jersey.
