Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) is planning a “Stand Up to Trump: New Jersey Day of Action” on Saturday when Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will be in Wildwood for a beachfront campaign rally.
Sherrill, a potential candidate for governor next year, announced today that she will host a volunteer recruitment event in Morris County for Sue Altman, who wants to unseat Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-Westfield) in New Jersey’s 7th district, and then a rally in Union County for Altman with American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.
“Donald Trump stands for everything antithetical to New Jersey values – fear, division, and chaos. Just last week, he doubled down on his plan to restrict our reproductive rights by allowing states to monitor pregnant women and punish those who seek abortion care,” said Sherrill. “That’s why I’m bringing New Jersey Democrats together to stand up to Trump with a Day of Action: Making calls, knocking doors, and returning vote-by-mail ballots.”
Later, she will kick off a Democratic phone bank in Cape May County, the site of Trump’s visit, and then will talk about her support for access to legal abortions at a visit to a small business in Essex County.
“There’s so much at stake in this November – that’s why we must elect Sue Altman, take back the House Democratic majority, and re-elect Joe Biden,” Sherrill stated.
Sherrill said that more Day of Action events will be added in advance of Saturday.
