As New Jersey officials continue to assess the fallout of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, Senate President Nicholas Scutari said he expects the state’s Democratic delegation to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris at Monday night’s delegate meeting.
Scutari hasn’t formally endorsed anyone, but he said he’ll “probably” vote for Harris at the delegate meeting. New Jersey’s entire Democratic House delegation has endorsed Harris, as well as Senator Cory Booker and Gov. Phil Murphy.
“I’m not going to step out in front of that delegation meeting, but I would think it’s pretty safe to assume she’s going to get our endorsement,” he said.
State Sen. and Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack endorsed Harris and said he would welcome Harris for a campaign event in his home city.
“I would love to do that and get the community behind her,” Stack said.
