Alexandria “Lexi” Santiago has been elected president of the Monmouth County Young Democrats as the organization prepares for the 2026 midterm elections.
Kemani Scott was elected vice president and treasurer, Emily Hicks will serve as director of community outreach, Tyler Colombo as director of events, Devin Mulroy as political director, and Nic Lawniczuk as secretary and communications director.
Santiago, a government affairs analyst at McCarter & English, previously worked for State Sen. Vin Gopal, Gov. Phil Murphy, former U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee. She is also a co-owner of The Parlor, a Pilates and wellness studio in Asbury Park.
Scott, the youngest person elected to the Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education, is a senior associate at MBI and the Democratic municipal chairman in Allentown.
“Congratulations to the newly elected Monmouth County Young Democrats,” said Monmouth County Democratic Chairwoman Dyese Davis. “I’ve had the privilege of watching each of you grow over the years, not just as Democrats, but as professionals, organizers, and leaders.”
Hicks is the deputy director of government affairs for New Jersey Realtors. Colombo and Mulroy both serve in Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s administration. Mulroy is the organization’s former president. Lawniczuk has served as executive director of the Monmouth County Democrats since 2023.
Mulroy said the organization would continue engaging younger voters while developing future political and civic leaders.
The new board plans to focus on voter education, increasing turnout among younger residents and organizing community service events and donation drives during and outside election season. Its stated mission is to provide an inclusive space for young people to participate in civic affairs and local politics.
