Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren endorsed Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for governor on Monday.
Warren said Baraka’s progressive work in Newark would benefit all New Jerseyans.
“As Mayor of Orange, I’ve witnessed firsthand how Mayor Ras Baraka’s leadership has transformed Newark and inspired communities throughout New Jersey,” Warren said in a release. “Ras Baraka has been a tireless advocate for equity, economic development, and opportunity for all. His plan for a state that prioritizes education, healthcare, affordable housing, economic opportunity and public safety resonates deeply with the values we hold dear in Orange.”
Warren is one of the first Essex County officials to endorse someone other than Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair).
