With eleven days left in the 2023 mid-term elections, and with nine days of early voting beginning tomorrow morning, 310,786 mail-in ballots have been returned to county election officials.
That brings the statewide voter turnout so far to 4.8% statewide after 33.4% of New Jerseyans who received vote-by-mail ballots returned them.
Almost two-thirds of all returned mail-in ballots (66%) are from Democrats and 21% from Republicans. With all 40 legislative districts combined, Democrats have returned 137,593 more VBMs than the GOP. Democrats also requested 357,720 more ballots than Republicans.
In the most competitive legislative districts, Democrats have an advantage:
District 2: 35% of VBMs returned; 65% from Democrats and 24% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +3,032.
District 3: 46.9% of VBMs returned; 68% from Democrats and 20% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +5,657.
District 4: 41.5% of VBMs returned; 68.5% from Democrats and 20.6% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +7,179.
District 8: 40.1% of VBMs returned; 63% from Democrats and 27% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +3,591.
District 11: 41.6% of VBMs returned; 66% from Democrats and 18% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +4,332.
District 14: 41.5% of VBMs returned; 66% from Democrats and 19% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +6,683.
District 16: 35.3% of VBMs returned; 63.6% from Democrats and 20.5% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +5,401.
District 30: 33% of VBMs returned; 37% from Democrats and 42.4% from Republicans; Republican margin: +306.
District 38: 33.7% of VBMs returned; 66.5% from Democrats and 18.4% from Republicans; Democratic margin: +3,128.
