A GOP assemblywoman running in a special election in a Morris County-based district has stretched her lead to 4,274 votes in a race where the Democratic challenger was ahead until earlier this week.
Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) is now in front of Democrat Darcy Draeger, 55,647 to 51,373, 52%-48%, after 5,609 more votes from Morris County were added to the tally on Thursday evening.
In a special election for State Senate in the 25th district, State Sen. Anthony M. Bucco (R-Boonton) has now widened his lead over Democrat Rupande Mehta by 9,977 votes.
Bucco is ahead, 57,883 to 47,906, 54.7% to 45.3%.
The Morris County Republican will complete the unexpired term of his late father, State Sen, Anthony R. Bucco (R-Boonton), who died in September 2019.
Republicans picked Bucco to replace his father in the Senate. Dunn took Bucco’s vacant Assembly seat.
Mehta and Draeger both led on election night.
