Democrats have maintained a statewide turnout advantage of more than 530,000 votes with less than four hours remaining before polls close, despite Republicans outvoting Democrats in several closely watched counties.

An updated analysis by Umichvoter, based on voting data through 4:27 PM, shows that 2,310,396 New Jersey voters have cast ballots, including 1,166,868 Democrats, 636,030 Republicans, and 507,498 unaffiliated voters.

That gives Democrats a 530,838-vote advantage statewide, with registered Democrats accounting for 51% of all voters, Republicans 28%, and unaffiliated voters 22%.

Democrats are also leading in Election Day voting, with 463,098 ballots cast, compared with 342,909 Republicans and 263,838 unaffiliated voters.

But Republicans are outperforming Democrats in several counties where competitive congressional and county races are on the ballot.

In Morris County, Republicans have cast 36,673 Election Day ballots, compared with 25,460 Democrats, a margin of 11,213 votes.  Democrats still have an advantage: 63,662 to 59,988.

Hunterdon County Republicans hold an 11,915-to-6,293 Election Day advantage, while Democrats retain a narrow overall lead of 20,103 to 21,690 for Republicans — a Republican advantage of 1,587 votes.

In Monmouth County, Republicans lead Election Day voting by 8,397 ballots, while Democrats maintain an overall advantage of 5,779 votes.

Republicans are also leading Election Day turnout in Atlantic County, 13,210 to 11,680, although Democrats remain ahead overall by 5,253 votes.

In Gloucester County, where control of the Board of County Commissioners is at stake, Democrats lead Election Day voting, 19,062 to 16,848, and maintain a 19,086-vote overall advantage.

Cumberland County, another county with control of its commissioner board at stake, has seen Republicans narrowly outvote Democrats on Election Day, 4,507 to 4,293. Democrats lead overall by 3,219 votes.

Ocean County remains the largest source of Republican turnout, with 48,530 Republicans voting on Election Day compared with 21,192 Democrats. Republicans hold an overall advantage of 32,531 votes there.

The figures remain incomplete, with Election Day turnout not yet reported from Cape May, Salem and Sussex counties.  The numbers reflect party registration, not votes cast for individual candidates.

Compared with the 2:29 PM. update, turnout has increased by 247,648 voters, while the Democratic statewide advantage has grown by 24,796 votes, from 506,042 to 530,838.

Democrat Cory Booker is seeking his third full term in the U.S. Senate; he faces Republican Justin Murphy.
