Republican U.S. Senate candidate Curtis Bashaw launched a new digital ad tying Democratic Rep. Andy Kim to Vice President Kamala Harris. The 45-second spot attacks the pair on immigration and border security.
The ad, “We Failed,” uses a series of clips of Harris, Kim and TV news reports, bookmarked by voiceovers, to make their point.
Script: (Voiceover) Kamala Harris and Andy Kim’s inaction to secure our border has led to grave consequences. (Harris) We’re not going to treat people who are undocumented across the border as criminals. (Kim) Look, I’m concerned that this enforcement-only approach, it’s not looking at the totality of what needs to happen. (Harris) The border is secure. (News clip) Two Venezuelan migrants are under arrest in Houston for murdering 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungary. (News clip) This border report, there continues to be an influx of deadly fentanyl on this side of the border, poisoning our communities. (News clip) Four buses were seen dropping off asylum seekers at the train station at Secaucus Junction. (Voice Over)Harris and Andy Kim have had their chance to secure our border. They failed.
Jeanette Hoffman, a spokesperson for Bashaw, said the ad will appear on social media channels but did not say how much was being spent.
“[Harris] has not secured the border, Andy Kim has supported the failure of Biden and Harris to not secure our borders and has been on the record and saying he did not believe it was a problem,” Hoffman said.
